Wings Appeal

 

The Wings Appeal is the fundraising arm of the RAF Association and helps raise the vital funds needed to support serving and ex-RAF personnel and their families, wherever they are need.  Be it an injured airman fighting to get back on his feet, a young child missing their parent away on overseas operations or a WWII veteran needing a shoulder to lean on.

 

Simply they are here to ensure that no member of the RAF family, past or present, is ever left alone or in need.

 

A few highlights of their work:

 

  • Over 500 volunteer welfare officers

  • War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Scheme providing free confidential guidance and advice and representation at all stages of a claim

  • On-station contact houses allowing families that can’t be together a place to spend time with their children

  • Three Wings Break respite hotels welcomed over 2,500 guests in 2015

  • Provision of sheltered accommodation to allow elderly members to continue to live independently

  • Affordable holiday lets in West Sussex and Norfolk

  • Storybook Wings allows parents to keep in touch with their children when serving overseas
